Surrender is the final stage of the eBL flow. It is an action equivalent to returning the paper BL to the carrier, so you only complete this action after your normal processing of a BL is completed.

Surrender a Bill of Lading
From the Flows page, click on the eBL tab under the Home button at the top of the page. You’ll see a list of eBL documents and their current status. When you find the one you want to surrender, click its Surrender button on the far right of the page.
Providing Release Party
Optionally you can provide Release Party information. The Release Party would be a third party that is being authorized to pick up the container on behalf of the consignee.
If the one you are looking for isn’t listed, click the link below the list to add manually. Enter the release party’s name. Click Surrender.
You’ll see a pop-up box in the top right corner of the screen confirming a successful transfer. The document’s Current Status will change to Surrendered.
Once the TradeLens platform has processed the surrender action and update the blockchain with the transaction, the platform automatically notifies and updates the ocean carriers documentation system with the surrendered status, the surrendering party, as well as, any optionally provided Release Party information.
